mothers interviewed ~ my mama

instead of just dedicating one day to our lovely mothers, i decided this entire week will be one to celebrate not only my mama, but a few of your mother's as well.

today i interviewed my own mom, penny. :)

pictured below ~ left to right: holly (daughter #3), mawma (her mom), karsen (daughter #5), allyson (daughter #6), mama (mother of all mothers), and me ~ jenna (daughter #2)

1. what was it like the first time you found out you were pregnant?
oh my, i was so excited. all my life i wanted to have a bunch of kids. (p.s. she ended up having six... and they were all girls!)

2. what is your favorite memory as a mom?
giving birth to each of my girls, and watching them all grow into independent and beautiful women inside and out.

3. what is your favorite memory with your own mother?
probably when she was with me throughout all my own labor and deliveries. that was really special.

4. if you could change anything about how you raised me, would you?
i don't have any regrets, as i did the very best i could do with what wisdom or lack of wisdom that i had at the time. i think you turned out all right! :) hopefully you are not too scarred.

5. what was your proudest moment as a mom?
i don't think there is just ONE moment. i was and am still proud of all that my girls do, and for you guys just being who you are. magnificent women, each of you unique in your own ways. each of you touches my heart, and has a special place that's all your own.

6. in what ways do you think i turned out like you?
i think you're a dreamer, and as determined as i am to go after the things you want. i think you value family and relationships like me. i also think you might be a tad bit stubborn like myself... hehehe. you also have compassion for others and try to make things good for those around you. you have a strong work ethic & strive to always do your best no matter what you undertake. and probably your sense of humor and creativity. (thanks mom)

7. what was your biggest fear about becoming a mother?
i'm not sure i was afraid, as i had always taken care of kids since i was ten years old, and being a neonatal nurse i had the baby thing covered. looking back though now, i think i was afraid of having to raise you all alone. i wanted nothing but the best for all of you, but many times there didn't seem to be enough of me to go around.

8. describe what it's like to be a mother in three words?
awesome, stressful, and joyous

9. if i could grant you one wish... what would you wish for?
if i tell you the wish... will it come true? :) i wish for all my girls to have great faith in the Lord, happiness in all things, peace of mind, heart, and spirit, and that all their wishes come true. i also wish i could see katie and spend some more time with her.

10. is there anything you regret not asking your own mom?
no, we are very close... she is my best friend, and i tell her everything. she always shares her thoughts and wisdom with me, even if it's something i don't want to hear! :)
