ever since i have been with the mister, which by the way will be ten years in september, he's definitely always had the romantic thing down. :) it's funny thinking back to all the sweet things he did for me when i was growing up because i definitely didn't appreciate it like i do now.
this year the valentine's day surprises started out when a bouquet of flowers arrived for me at the office. i don't know any girl who doesn't love getting flowers delivered at work, and this time was no different. aren't they pretty? the tulips falling over is my bad because i had just changed the water, and i didn't have time to fix the actual arrangement. :)
next i got a text message telling me not to eat lunch because he had ordered me food that would be there in an hour. i was totally impressed because i hadn't even figured out who delivered in the area yet! about an hour later, i got another text that the delivery man was outside. when i went to get my food, i was seriously shocked to see the mister standing there. :) i was so completely confused because i didn't realize he was taking me to lunch! it might not seem like an extravagant gesture, but i love that he drove an hour to see me just for a quick meal.
as far as the evening plans, i volunteered to make our valentine's dinner arrangements this year. since i am such a procrastinator and indecisive person sometimes, i was freaking out the day of when we still had nothing set in stone. i had been debating on so many ideas, but finally on my way to the office i decided on a good surprise!
we were going to take an hour and a half private gondola dinner ride through the marina. :) this almost didn't happen because when i called they were totally booked, but i asked to be put on standby, and in the end luckily we got a 6:15p time slot!!
captain larry who booked the gondola for me, was amazing. i ordered dinner, which he picked up so it would be waiting for us when we got there, and it seemed like he went out of his way to really make sure i had everything we needed.
i was a little worried about getting there on time because of traffic, and the mister will tell you i was a mess! i know i made him a little frazzled too. :) i made him put a mask on when i drove him there, thank goodness it was only a couple streets over from our place. even though he knew we were near home, he was completely surprised when we walked down to the boat.
with all the excitement, i do have to admit... we forgot our camera in our car! we took these couple pictures after our ride. :( i was a little sad i didn't get to take a million pictures, but at the same time if i had my camera... i probably wouldn't have just enjoyed myself like i did.
we had good wine, great food, sweet italian music playing, and a very funny gondolier. i can't remember his name, but he absolutely reminded me of captain ron. the mister and i shared quite a few laughs over that.
do you see how full our table is?? they went all out by giving us fruit, cheese and crackers, a rose, candles, fancy dinnerware, and a chocolate rose to make it as cheesy romantic as possible. i truly loved every minute of it!
in the end, the mister said i did good ~ and that my friends was all i was hoping for. :)
enjoy your weekend friends!!
