tuesday ten ~ 2011 goals

i have never been more excited for a year to begin than now. yes, the past couple years were filled with good times, but a lot of loss, sadness, and pure bad luck sort of overshadowed my happiness. i really am starting 2011 with the intent that this will be my "lucky" year. things will be falling into place, and instead of worrying about things ~ hopefully i'll find my peace again :)

last year was the first year i set resolutions for myself & last year was also the first year i kept most of them! 2010 recap ~

1 ~ twelve meals: check ~ i'll share the last few meals in my coming posts! :)
2 ~ blog three times a week: half check ~ i don't know that every week i posted three times, but i definitely kept the blog going.
3 ~ finish projects: check ~ this is always going to be a challenge for me; however this year i am pretty sure i finished everything i started.
4 ~ remember to breathe: half check ~ i might have forgotten this a couple times, but for the most part i made sure i did.
5 ~ try new things: check ~ i think i was super brave & tried a lot of new foods and especially new friendships.
6 ~ be healthy: uh not so much ~ i did follow my dr's orders, but exercising regularly and eating like i should definitely did NOT happen consistently.
7 ~ read more: check ~ you'll be happy to know i read more books in 2010 than in the previous years.
8 ~ pay off credit cards & car: half check ~ my car is paid off... credit cards are still a work in progress!
9 ~ work smarter: check ~ i stood up for myself, i think i was a good leader, and i definitely learned how to handle certain personalities while maintaining my own sanity.
10 ~ find my faith again: half check ~ i found it... and then lost it... and then i think at the end found it again. :) hopefully it sticks this time.

this year i plan to....

1 ~ bake twelve desserts. i am seriously soo excited about this! :) i am thinking the mister will enjoy this... as well as my neighbor and friends who will be forced to take goodies home so i don't blow up in size.

2 ~ start a savings account. it's time ~ i have had a few before, but i ultimately always close them. this account will be different. money will go in... and will not be coming out for a very long time.

3 ~ bike & walk. two things i love to do, i plan on doing more of in 2011. since the beach is next door, that's where i plan to do both of these things on the regular! :)

4 ~ use my recycled bags. a small stepping stone, but my way of being more green. :) i want to get the one below because i sort of think it's amazing. fyi, you can buy this tote here at handbago.com.

5 ~ find a place to volunteer. i've been struggling to find a place with flexible volunteer hours for awhile now, but i WILL find somewhere soon! i think it's important to give back no matter what.

6 ~ get a job. i have been a little quiet about it, but i have been interviewing! (the company's are going to stay confidential for now, but i promise to give the full low down eventually.) hopefully things will be wrapping up soon, and i will be back in my stilettos before you know it.

9 ~ learn to be patient. i really need to work on this. i am the most impatient person in the world. i like instant gratification, and it's time i change.

8 ~ send cards. i've got most everyone's birthday's marked, holidays highlighted, and damn it... i will be sending my loved one cards for all the important occasions! i have a few friends who are SOOO good at sending cards, and it always makes me want to be like them. this year i will be!

7 ~ call my sisters. it's hard that we are so far away, and never able to ALL be in the same place at once. this year i'm going to try and check in with each of them more often. even though i sort of hate talking on the phone ~ i will because i ♥ them.

10 ~ finish my projects. it was one of my goals in 2010, and it will probably continue to be every year so i don't let my procrastination habit take over! :)

did you make any resolutions or set any goals?

i hope you enjoyed reading mine, and p.s. glad to be back. i missed my computer way more than i thought i would. unfortunately i found out my logic board needs to be replaced, but the budget doesn't account for that right now, so cross your fingers nothing goes haywire! :)

I am ALWAYS so very proud of you, your determination and the way you express yourself. You have a wonderful gift in the way you share your thoughts, ideas and love. This will be a wonderful year for you and Cam...I know it. And your little sister is always eager to talk with you so make the phone ring. Blessings!

Great job with keeping your resolutions from last year! You'll do great with this year. I'm far away from my sister too and we talk on the phone and email every day!

congrats on finishing your 2010 goals and good luck on your 2011 ones! i love your goals for this year. they're all about continued growth instead of "fixing" yourself, which i love. land a job is one of my goals for this year as well. who knew graduating with a masters would lead to such a HARD time finding a job?! it's so hard, but i'm going for it. lots of luck on your interviews!!!

I love these. It is amazing what putting something in list form can do. I'm such a fan of that.
Anyway, my goal for the year is joy.

what great resolutions! (last year and this year)
I never make them because I feel like you should always be striving to be better and do more. It probably helps to have a list though. Maybe next year I'll try it out! ;)

Your goals are great ones. Just because you wrote them down you'll probably be more accountable and complete them. I'm taking a break from goals this year. I decided I'm going to take one day at a time, relax more, and since I can't afford to go on one, pretend I'm on vacation. Especially from goals. Last year plumb wore me out.

Regarding finding, losing and finding your faith again - I have found that in my life when I feel my faith waning, I just "take a leap of faith". I forget about trying to analyze, understand, or 'feel' anything, I just leap right into it. Then presto! It's there right where it should have been all along. Right where He promised it would be. Good luck on all your goals this year, especially keeping in touch with your sisters. Family is so important!

You may want to see London - and rightly so haha - but at least you live on a beach! I'm so jealous,

You are so good! I wish I could do that. If I make a new years resolution, i always forget it. Ha! Maybe becasuse I'm so hard on my self already... I wouldn't want to put more pressure on myself- yikes!

I love your goal of riding your bike or walking...especially since it involves the beach. I used to do it everyday in Newport :( totally miss it! And I love getting mail...and buying blank solid color cards to decorate and mail. Unfortunately I have a lot of written cards that never got mailed booo!

What fantastic goals--I love the one you set for the desserts! That's an easily digestible challenge--and a fun one to boot. So glad we've found one another's blogs :) hope you have a great Thursday--and here's to a great 2011! xoxo {av}
