tuesday ten ~ sweet escape

sometimes we all need a little escape, somewhere to go and avoid real life for a minute, a day, a week... or when the times are tough maybe longer. :) and while i wish i was able to just go to the airport and hop on a flight to anywhere... that's just not in my budget ~ so instead i'm daydreaming.

here's ten places i want to escape to, and even if i can't really go right now... someday i will. :)

1 ~ bali, indonesia. who doesn't want to play mini golf with a monk overlooking the beautiful ocean? i think it'd be amazing to go surfing, ride horses on the beach, and just explore the heritage and culture of this beautiful place.

2 ~ bora bora, tahiti. it was our honeymoon destination, and seriously anytime i need a mind escape, i automatically imagine myself back here. we stayed in one of those over water bungalows ♥, you could see all the gorgeous fish under the glass floor cut outs! this is one of the hundreds of pictures i took.

3 ~ kenya, africa. (the mister prefers somewhere in south africa... so we'll see). i just want to go on an amazing safari wherever we actually end up... lions, hippos, elephants, and giraffes need to be involved. while there, i wouldn't mind doing some charitable work too.

4 ~ venice, italy. when i finally make it to italy... i won't be stopping just in venice, but it's definitely one of my must see cities. the canals we have here in venice, california are beautiful; however i want to see the real ones. :)

5 ~ giza, eygpt. i usually only love sand when it's by an ocean, but being able to see the pyramids would be amazing/life changing. i know there are only a couple pyramids you can actually go into, and the number of people they let in for an entire day is only 300, but can you imagine how cool it would be??

6 ~ maldives islands. when i first saw the islands, it instantly reminded me of bora bora ~ but the one thing that reeled me is was the conrad hotel. it has an undersea restaurant that i would die to go to. it's 180 degrees of pure beauty... and p.s. i would ask to sleep there when i finished my meal. :)

7 ~ agra, india. for me the main reason to visit here is the taj mahal. i can't imagine seeing it's beauty first person. i think i could get lost there, and i ♥ that another name for this place is "tear on the face of eternity". maybe when i die, the mister will have a place like this built for me.

8 ~ hawaii. the mister and i need to just pack up and go. i don't even really care which island... just one where we can relax and just be us. it would only take a little pineapple drink in hand, a flower in my hair, and i'd be in my kind of heaven.

9 ~ turks & caicos islands. a friend of mine went there on her honeymoon, and she told me she had the time of her life relaxing in their private villa ~ drinking pirate rum ~ and just hanging w/her man in the sun. sign me up... please & thank you! p.s. this picture is of pelican beach ~ how amazing is that water??

10 ~ kodiak, alaska. i really, really want to go at the beginning of summer when humpbacks, minke, and orcas are present and easily seen. how fun & exciting right?? this is probably the coldest place i put on my list of escapes, but it is just so beautiful that i don't think i'd mind be a little cold/freezing. :)

if you didn't notice i really do prefer islands over anything... i realized i picked 2 from asia (maldives & bali), 2 from the pacific (hawaii & bora bora), and 1 in the caribbean (turks & caicos). mermaid syndrome.

where do you want to escape too?

Those would be great places to go! My husband and I aren't beach people, but we would love to go anywhere in Europe and we would love to go to Alaska!

I'm hoping to escape to Grand Turk in February. I'll need a break from the cold weather here in Chicago. In the meantime, I will flag your post and keep dreaming.

Many of your places are on my list...I've been to Alaska, and am currently (cross my fingers) thinking of a trip to Kenya and Tanzania...to see the wildebeast migration next spring.

My travel bug is now worse than ever. Absolutely gorgeous!

(Hint: I studied abroad in Venice - if you order gelato in Italian they give you more. They love for us to try!)

Hi Jenna,

We basically have the same list of where I'd love to go or loved to have been! In addition, my list would have to include: The Galapagos Islands, Australia & New Zeland, Brazil, and the Seychelles Islands.
